MADRID, Spain.- The young Cuban makeup artist Daniela Pérez Clavelo drew on her body and face a representation of the mass exodus that crosses the island.
To the share the images on his social networks Pérez Clavelo pointed out that “there is no greater pain in the world than saying goodbye to the land where you were born.”
“Cubans are pushed to travel long paths for a future, a better job, better food, a better salary, a better house, better transportation; in short, for a dignified life. Sometimes they don’t do it for themselves, but for the person left behind; a mother, a father, a partner or in most cases, a child, for whom you would cross sea and land just to make him happy. The Cuban is a fighter and a dreamer, he is not afraid of the thousands of kilometers that stand between his agonizing past and his uncertain future,” said the young woman, who used elements such as planes and couples saying goodbye to represent emigration.
Likewise, she dedicated her makeup “to all those people who have traveled the world to achieve their dreams, carrying hope and desire as a company in their backpack”; and those who have had to stay “and see how our loved ones leave, with uncertainty; without knowing when, how or where we will meet again.
After the success of her art, which has earned her a large number of followers on social networks, Daniela Pérez thanked for all the compliments, comments and reactions.
“I still can’t believe the noise and impact it made. (…) And I couldn’t be happier with how far my art has come, considering where I am and the few resources I have. I only have to imagine my future and project very nice things to myself ”, she expressed.
