Energy Department delivered 800 electrical appliances to INAU centers
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), through the National Energy Directorate (DNE), in agreement with the Energy Savings and Efficiency Trust (FUDAEE) and the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU), delivered, this June 14, category A efficient equipment that will be allocated to some 344 centers linked to the institute. The investment amounts to 12,500,000 pesos.
The president of INAU, Pablo Abdala, and the national director of Energy, Fitzgerald Cantero, participated in the activity.
Cantero explained that the contribution is the product of an agreement signed in 2022, between FUDAEE and INAU, in which some 22,000,000 pesos were allocated for the acquisition of household appliances and equipment for the institute. He explained that the investment made in this first instance amounts to 12,500,000, for which the acquisition of more equipment is being analyzed.
The hierarch added that, in return, INAU will contribute to the dissemination of the concept of energy efficiency in centers where children, young people, their families and officials participate.
He announced that this Friday, June 16, category A efficient electrical equipment will be delivered to homes for the elderly registered in the National Registry of Institutions of the Social Welfare Bank (BPS), within the framework of an agreement with similar characteristics.
Meanwhile, Abdala reported that the household appliances received during the event will be allocated to 154 homes and residences managed by INAU and 190 child and family care centers (CAIF) that operate by agreement and are located throughout the country.
“Here there are two policies that are articulated, childhood and energy,” said the head of INAU, and explained that efficient use stands out in terms of energy, while in childhood the relationship is found in the protection and promotion of children’s rights, since they will be given a better quality of life.
In total, the DNE delivered 797 class A energy efficiency equipment: 383 air conditioners, 264 refrigerators and 150 water heaters.
