The event was reported at dawn on Monday, June 12, at the entrance to Jardines de Veracruz, in District 5 of Managua. While driving in a car, the now deceased were hit by a truck driven by Abner Lenín Escobar Pérez, 35 years old.
General Commissioner Vilma Reyes, head of the National Traffic Safety Directorate, explained that Domingo González Sandoval, director of the Ekatombe comparsa, and Roderick Paul McDonald, were traveling in a state of intoxication and upon reaching the intersection the red light of the traffic light was launched. traffic light.

It was at that moment that they invaded the lane of Escobar Pérez, who was driving a Toyota Hilux truck and was also under the influence of alcohol.

The security camera of a local in the area recorded the moment when the white Hilux truck collided with the left side of the car where the couple was traveling, dragging the vehicle approximately 20 meters.
After the crash, the occupants of the truck got out to help González and McDonald, but they had died immediately after the collision. The two victims died of closed chest trauma and on Sunday one of them was buried in the middle of a crowded burial.
It was known that Domingo González and Roderick McDonald were a couple, and one day before the tragedy, the director of the Ekatombe comparsa came to receive McDonald at the Managua International Airport.
The driver of the truck is still in custody; while the case is in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office.
