Two weeks ago, the National Primary Commission reported that they would request technical assistance from the CNE after a meeting with the Joint Technical Commission to confirm the conditions that would govern the opposition primaries.
The National Primary Commission (CP) published a statement in which it clarified that the communication process with the pre-candidates of the process has been fluid and that many of the doubts have already been clarified in the regulations emanated by this instance, while the unknowns that prevail must be discussed with the National Electoral Council (CNE).
The commission’s message was published just hours after receiving a letter sent by the María Corina Command, the work team of the pre-candidate María Corina Machado facing the opposition primaries and subsequent presidential elections. In this document, the leader’s command expressed its concern because “there is no clarity about the technical specifications” that will govern the process.
Given the doubts expressed in the letter, the National Primary Commission recalled that on June 6 the pre-candidates were notified that the explanation of everything that was confirmed in the joint Technical Commission that will be carried out before formally request technical assistance from the CNE.

They stressed that all the requests that the commission has made to the CNE are public knowledge, while all the specifications already agreed upon are included in the regulations of the process, which are also public knowledge.
They emphasized the external vote, one of the main concerns expressed by Machado’s team, alleging that “the regulation is also very clear and detailed.” In this sense, they urged the political actors who will participate in the process to make efforts to “strengthen participation, logistical support and encourage updating the address in our web application.”
Last Friday, June 2, the National Primary Commission announced, after months of uncertainty regarding the voting mechanism that would be used in the primaries, that technical support from the CNE would be requestedwhich would imply the use of voting machines with fingerprint scanners.
However, they clarified that the formal request for technical assistance would depend on a meeting with the Joint Technical Commission to ratify the conditions that the entity had handled up to now, a meeting that has not yet materialized.
