The Cuban government convened the IV conference The Nation and Emigration for November of this year, an appointment suspended in 2020 after the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through Twitter, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stressed that the event, scheduled for November 18 and 19, is “an expression of the unequivocal will of the Cuban Government to continue deepening ties and dialogue with its nationals abroad” in ” defense of our sovereignty and for national development”.

Likewise, he recognized the “disinterested and permanent” support of Cubans residing abroad who managed the shipment of medical supplies during the most critical stage of the Covid-19 pandemic on the island.
Rodríguez Parrilla considered that the event will have a special meaning for young people, those who “identify, defend and love the country”, even though they were born in other latitudes.

During the 2022 calendar year, the number of Cuban emigrants to the United States reached 313,488, just under 3% of the Cuban population (11,147,405) in 2021.
That magnitude practically doubles the total combined number of Cuban emigrants to the United States from the Mariel crisis in 1980 (126,407) and the rafters crisis of 1994 (32,362). At present, Cuba ranks fifth among all migrant-sending countries globally.
On the other hand, the program parole announced in January by the White House It has brought some 14,000 Cubans to the United States, while applications pending review exceeded 380,000 at the end of April.
