The MPP proposal that will be presented in the Senate, is to “improve the distribution of work” and the “well-being of workers”, among other arguments.
If the initiative were approved, the project indicates that “from the year this law comes into effect, the current 48-hour weekly regime will be reduced to 46 weekly hours. From the age of two, the weekly working day will be reduced from 46 to 44 weekly hours. From the age of three, the weekly working day will be reduced from 44 to 42 weekly hours. Finally, from the fourth year of the entry into force of this law, the weekly working day will be reduced from 42 to 40 weekly hours”.
The argument of the initiative “tends to improve the distribution of existing work, to optimize the well-being of workers and to adapt to a new labor reality. We found sufficient and solid foundations to promote the reduction of the working day, for those sectors that still perform with a weekly limit of more than 40 hours”.
