MIAMI, United States. — Two Cubans died this Monday in Holguín after being run over by a train that covered the route between Havana and Guantanamo, the station reported. Radio SG The Voice of Sugar.
Members of the train crew declared to this medium that the deceased were two men who were on the railway line when the vehicle was running.
“Presumably the two people were lying on the track when the train was moving and, according to some crew members, the machine could not be stopped in time to prevent the accident,” the local station reported.
The information adds that the accident occurred between kilometers 743 and 744 of the central railway, close to the area of Los Quintos de Urbano Noris, in the municipality of the same name.

“The main authorities of the municipality appeared at the scene, headed by Ecaterine Fonseca Prieto, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Urbano Noris, Mayor Leonel Leyva Sarmiento and officials from the Ministry of the Interior,” the report added.
The accident comes a week after a man was run over by a train in the province of Las Tunas. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the provincial capital. Comments that appeared on social networks indicated that the deceased was a deaf-mute who was throwing out the garbage at the time the train passed, so he did not hear the alerts from the people who were in the place.
In September of last year two people lost their lives after hitting a train and car in Havana. The accident occurred at a railway crossing where other events of this type had been recorded, both due to the recklessness of the drivers and the precarious road signs.
