MADRID, Spain.- The young Cuban baseball player Pedro Danguillecourt left Cuba in the last few hours and is already in the Dominican Republic, from where he will try to sign with a Major League Baseball (MLB) organization.

The man from Holguin “stands out for his ability to connect. He is also characterized by excellent discipline in home and understanding of the strike zone”, highlighted the writer and journalist specialized in baseball Francys Romero when sharing the information this Monday through the social network Twitter.

In this year’s Under-18 National Championship, Danguillecourt hit .295/.450/.487 and hit four doubles, four triples and one home run.

In addition, he was part of the Cuba team in various categories, always with notable results. Among them, the U-12 World Cup developed in 2019 in Taiwan, where the Caribbean won the bronze medal. And in the U-15 World Cup held in Mexico in October 2022, a competition in which the Cubans finished second.

It is worth noting that of the Cuban team that competed in said U-15 World Cup, Pedro Danguillecourt is number 12, out of a total of 20 players, to leave the Island.

This roster also left Cuba in recent months Alexander PrietoSegian Pérez, Ernest Machado, Dulieski Ferrán Valodia, Alex Acosta, Jonathan Valle, Christian de Jesus Zamora, Ronald Terrero, Danel Reyes, Yosniel Menendez and Roberto Peña.

As Francys Romero points out, “never before in history has more than 60 percent of a team left in less than eight months after the end of the world competition in the category.”

Regarding the constant exodus of prospects from Cuban baseball, the journalist has explained on previous occasions that some emigrate immediately when they go through the category, while others hope to reach youth or senior categories.
