Maduro: Venezuela opens the doors to the world so that they know the truth

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized this Friday that Venezuela has its doors open, for all authorities who wish to know the reality of the country, and thus dismantle the media campaign promoted by extremist sectors.

“Venezuela has its doors open to the world, for those who want to know the truth. In Venezuela we are defenders of the truth,” said the Venezuelan head of state from the Miraflores Palace in Caracas.

The statements were made during the signing of the second Memorandum of Understanding between Venezuela and the International Criminal Court Prosecutor (ICC).

Similarly, he stressed that in Venezuela the creation of a State where the people are the protagonists of the country’s development was placed as a priority.

“Venezuela is a country where we consider a different State, a State where the people are the protagonists of their own development, their rights and we work towards the people,” said the head of state.

It should be remembered that the national president held a meeting on Thursday with the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, as part of the work agenda that the official fulfills in Venezuela.

In this Thursday’s meeting, the progress achieved after implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the ICC was reviewed.

Technical office of the ICC in Venezuela

During the day, President Maduro referred to the technical office of the ICC that will open this year in Venezuela.

In this sense, he indicated that with the collaboration of the CPI, the national justice system will be strengthened, with the training of prosecutors.

“This office will have a favorable impact within the framework of the complementarity of the Rome Statute, and the necessary change in the national justice system, for the training of professionals, of the main actors, and to bring the experience of the prosecutor’s office closer to the Court International Criminal Court, bring it closer to the important or modest experience of Venezuela”, he pointed out.

The first president referred to the previous experience of establishing an office with Michele Bachelet when she was the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, which works efficiently with organizations and institutions for the protection of human rights in Venezuela.

On the other hand, the CPI prosecutor, Karim Khan, highlighted the meetings held in the last two days, with the different government authorities.

In this regard, he stated that these actions started in 2021 – with the signing of the first memorandum of understanding – and in 2022 with the agreement to open an office in the country.

With the office – the prosecutor explained – “we can help Venezuela with training with technical assistance, for the sake of the people of Venezuela.”

“The agreement that we have just signed details the technical assistance and advice that our office will give” and explained that it will guarantee more justice, responsibility and sustainable peace, he added.
