The Specialized Section for Homicide and Femicide of the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office managed to apprehend two people, allegedly linked to the double homicide, to the detriment of a couple, which occurred on the night of this Monday, June 5, 2023, in the community of María Henríquez , corregimiento of Mayor Díaz.
The Prosecutor’s Office led the search proceedings, carried out jointly with the National Police in Alcalde Díaz, in which illegal substances were also seized.
The Specialized Section of Homicide and Femicide of the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, in the first 5 months of 2023, managed to increase the charges by 8%, giving a total of 107, a figure that exceeds that of 2022, when it was registered in the same period. a total of 99 and in terms of provisional arrests, there have been 100, a figure that also exceeds the same period in 2022, when 85 measures were imposed, for crimes against Life and Personal Integrity.
Of the homicide victims, which totaled 74 as of May, 100 provisional arrests were applied, which means a percentage of 135% in efficiency in resolving the cases.
From January to May, a total of 55 sentences were achieved, 46 of which were convictions. The indictments also increased, from 71 in 2022 to 103 in 2023, representing 45% more effectiveness.
Regarding the raids carried out, 54 people were apprehended, through 171 proceedings, carried out in the operations; Secuaz, Soprano, Hitman, Bastión, Sicariuz, Barrido, Barrido II, people who were among the most wanted.
In the search proceedings, 10 firearms, cash in the amount of B/.7,694.00, cell phones and illegal substances were also seized.
Regarding the number of victims, they increased from 74 to 87, resulting in an 18% increase in cases; Regarding the highest incidence of homicide and femicide, it remains with 13 cases in the corregimiento 24 de Diciembre; followed by Pacora with 9; Tocumen with 8; Chilibre with 7; Mayor Diaz with 6; Lefevre and Pedregal Park with 5.
Specialized Section for Homicides and Femicides of San Miguelito
The San Miguelito Specialized Homicide and Femicide Section, in the first 5 months of 2023, managed to increase the charges to 36, five more than those registered in the same period of 2022, which totaled 31.
Regarding the precautionary measures of provisional detention in cases of homicide, a total of 32 were requested and applied in the months of January to May 2023, which represents 39% more than in the period of 2022, which were 23. .
The accusations filed and made total 23, which represents an increase of 35% compared to the figure of 17 in the first 5 months of 2022.
40 search procedures have been carried out and 57 homicide victims and 31 attempted homicides have been registered, totaling 86.
The Townships with the highest incidence of homicides and attempted homicides are: Belisario Frías, Arnulfo Arias and Belisario Porras.
