Venezuela shows solidarity with India after train crash

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed solidarity this Saturday with the people and government of India, after the train crash registered in the odisha state.

Through a statement – published by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil -, Venezuela “expresses its words of comfort to the families and friends of the victims, and encourages the rescue efforts carried out by emergency teams to attend to this unfortunate event.” .

Similarly, the national government reiterated “its deep feeling of solidarity with the Indian people and government, trusting in their courage and great strength to overcome this painful moment.”

More than 280 dead and 850 injured by the train crash in India

Odisha’s fire chief Sudhanshu Sarangi has filed a statement on the collision of three trains in eastern India.

So far, 288 people have been recorded dead and more than 850 people injured.

This incident was described by the authorities as the worst railway catastrophe in the country in more than 20 years, reports D.W.

The authorities believe that the number of deaths could increase.

The disaster was caused by the derailment of an express train from Bengaluru to Calcutta in the northeast, which fell onto the adjacent track heading south. Minutes later, the Coromandal Express, which was going from Calcutta to Chennai, crashed into the rubble.

Some of its wagons also collided with a freight train parked nearby.
