The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies approved a motion rejecting the visit made by the ruler Nicolás Maduro to that country and in which he held a meeting with President Luis Inácio Lula Da Silva.
The motion was approved this Wednesday, May 31, by the Foreign Relations and National Defense Commission (Credb). The initiative, promoted by deputies Marcel van Hattem (New Party) and Eduardo Bolsonaro (Liberal Party), received the support of 21 parliamentarians against 11 rejections and 2 abstentions.

On May 30, Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, hosted a summit of South American leaders, organized by President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva. The event was attended by different heads of state from the region and sought to promote regional integration.
Maduro participated in the conference. His arrival generated the discontent of several legislators, who rejected the presence of the politician in their nation.

Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou criticized his Brazilian counterpart for defending Nicolás Maduro by assuring that allegations of authoritarianism in Venezuela are due to a “narrative.”
“I was surprised when it was said that what is happening in Venezuela is a narrative,” said Lacalle, during his speech before Lula and the other leaders, reported infobae.
