Venezuela participate this Wednesday in the day of Revision of the 1974 Recommendation on Education for International Understanding, Cooperation and Peace on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, reported the permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco, for its acronym in English), rodulfo perez.
In a message posted on his account on the social network Twitter, Ambassador Pérez specified that he is at the Unesco headquarters to participate as a representative of Venezuela in the review session.
“#Venezuela free territory illiteracy! Attend the Review of the 1974 Recommendation on Education for International Understanding, Cooperation and Peace and Education in relation to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms”, published the Ambassador.
According to the digital portal of Unesco, the day of Revision of the 1974 Recommendation takes place at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, France, and the debates will take place until June 2.

The 1974 Recommendation Concerning Education for International Understanding, Cooperation and Peace Concerning Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms formulates principles and norms that allow the international regulation of education so that it can contribute to justice, freedom, human rights and peace, indicated Unesco in its website.
The Recommendation emphasizes the role that education plays in eradicating conditions that constitute a threat to the survival and well-being of humanity.
The review represents a unique opportunity to reactivate and update the global consensus on the role of education, with a view to preparing learners of all ages, as well as future generations, to cope with shocks in the future and build a more just, sustainable, healthy and peaceful future, highlights the organization.
The Unesco States decided to review the recommendation to take into account the changes that have occurred in the global and educational sphere, in particular the requirements of the 2030 Framework for Action and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) on education, with a view to to strengthen the role of education in promoting world peace, international understanding and sustainable development.
The review will also take into account recent findings from the Futures of Education Report Reimagining our futures together: a new social contract for education.
