This Tuesday, the National Assembly (AN) approved in first discussion the Partial Reform Project of the Decree with Rank, Value and Force of Law of the Housing and Habitat Benefit Regime.
The bill was introduced by Deputy Rigel Sergent – Chairman of the NA Commission to reform the Housing and Habitat Law – and responds to the requests presented by workers to President Nicolás Maduro on May 1.
Specifically, the reform proposes “guaranteeing the full participation of workers through their union organizations in the planning, organization, financing, construction, and access to housing through the National Housing and Habitat System and the instances that have been created to such an end”.
In addition, the text seeks to adapt the Law to the current reality, after 12 years of experience of the Great Housing Mission Venezuela.
It also seeks to strengthen the resources that are part of the system.
In this sense, it is proposed to establish strategic alliances so that together with the savings banks and the National Housing Bank workers can continue generating policies for access to housing.
After the unanimous approval of the bill to reform the Law, the president of parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, urged that it be held in public consultation with the different sectors “so that everyone can contribute their grain of sand in the construction of a real reform that guarantees the constitutional right to decent housing”.
