Distant 119 kilometers from the capital of Santa Cruz is Samaipata, one of the tourist emblems of the department of Santa Cruz and that this Tuesday is the anniversary. Here are some of the reasons to celebrate its 405 years.

1. Your location. It is located in the first Andean foothills, at 1,670 meters above sea level. The climate is humid temperate in the northeast, cold and dry in the southwest with an average annual temperature of 20.5 °C.

3. National Park. Close to Samaipata is the Amboró National Park, one of the largest ecological and natural reserves in the country for its unique flora and fauna in the world. And precisely, in Samaipata there are several entrances to Amboró: La Yunga, Abra de los Toros, Las Lauras, Comunidad Volcanes (in the community of Bermejo).

4. The famous Fort. It is a huge sculpted rock. It is the largest terrestrial petroglyph in the world and was occupied shortly before the Spanish conquest, by Inca outposts, who left some of their decorations superimposed on the original Amazonian ornaments. Thus, in 1998, Unesco included the Fort of Samaipata in the list of places considered a World Heritage Site.

6. Production. Seven years ago, an association of winemakers was created in this municipality where it brings together around 40 members, who to date are the main exponents of production in the area in varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Shiraz, Chardonay, Semillon and Malbec. .
