Digital census surveyed 500,000 homes and runs until May 22

More than 1,000,000 people were surveyed until this Wednesday the 17th by the 2023 digital census, which represents 40% of Uruguayan households, reported the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

In Montevideo, Maldonado, Canelones, Colonia and Flores the number of registered households exceeds 40%, while in Rivera, Salto and Treinta y Tres, it is close to 25%. The digital modality will be extended until Monday 22.

“It is very positive,” said the director of the INE, Diego Aboal, on Wednesday the 17th, in the Torre Ejecutiva assembly hall, after reporting that 18 days after the start of the digital census, more than 500,000 households were surveyed, which means a survey of more than 1,250,000 people.

These numbers represent more than 40% of Uruguayan households, he added, accompanied by the president of the 2023 National Census Commission, Isaac Alfie, the deputy general director of the INE, Federico Segui, and the director and deputy director of the Census unit, Leonardo Cuello and Lucía Pérez, respectively.

The highest response corresponds to the departments of Montevideo, Maldonado, Canelones, Colonia and Flores, with more than 40% adherence, and the lowest, between 20 and 30%, to Rivera, Artigas, Treinta y Tres, and Salto, detailed.

Alfie, meanwhile, announced that the digital modality of the 2023 Census will be extended until next Monday the 22nd. “From the INE we urge you to do it under this modality, faster and without schedules, because it facilitates the future task,” he added.
