The head of the Operational Strategic Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb), Domingo Hernández Lárez, denounced on Sunday that after the arrest of a Colombian citizen who tried to introduce contraband logistic material to sell it to illegal mining camps in the Yapacana National Park, Amazonas state, criminal groups paid people to attack the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.
“A group of illegal settlers, who had nothing to do with the case, were hired by Colombian irregular groups to attack a FANB post in retaliation for the seizure of contraband materials. In no case will actions that distort environmental protection activities be allowed by any group that dissociates from realities. The Fanb will remain firm in its purpose of safeguarding and protecting the environment,” he said.
On May 27, in patrol work and in the exercise of national sovereignty in the state of Amazonas, the Fanb detained an undocumented citizen of Colombian nationality from the town of Inirida in Colombia, while trying to introduce contraband logistics material to be resold. in Colombian pesos to the illegal mining camps and criminal structures dedicated to logging, burning and deforestation of the Yapacana National Park.
The Ceofanb commander added audiovisual material in which the detained undocumented Colombian citizen affirms that he receives 9 million pesos for the freight of contraband merchandise.
