Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received this Friday at the Palace of the Revolution Joseph Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The parties verified the contribution of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement to the advances in Cuba’s relations with the EU and its Member States, as well as the maturity reached in addressing various issues respectfully and under the principles of reciprocity and equality, according to report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

They also exchanged on the positive results of the Third Cuba-EU Joint Council, which took place on Friday.
A state television report, reviewed by Efe, He said that at the meeting the president told the high representative of the EU that his visit to Cuba has a “high significance” and highlighted the historical and cultural ties between his country and Europe as a pillar to facilitate “the deepening in a perspective sense” of relationships in different areas.
“I think the potential for the future is vast,” Díaz-Canel said, highlighting the way in which cooperation projects with the EU have been maintained and how much they contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
For his part, Borrell ratified the search for “unity and consensus” within the United Nations to support Cuba in its fight against the economic embargo applied by the United States government, the Spanish source points out.

He also considered the inclusion of the island in the list of countries that, according to the US, sponsor terrorism, as “outrageous” and that “has no justification.”
Joseph Borrell arrived in Cuba on May 24 to complete an official visit and preside, together with the Cuban foreign minister, the Third Cuba-EU Joint Council.
Talks with head of government of San Marino
During the day, Díaz-Canel also met with Luca Beccari, Secretary of State for Foreign Relations, International Economic Cooperation and Telecommunications and Head of Government of the Republic of San Marino.

According to Granma, this first visit of the Chancellor of San Marino was considered an opportunity to take steps in economic-commercial relations. Díaz-Canel said to study in which niches both states could have cooperation.
The visit marks a “moment in the historic relations between our nations; We are countries that share visions, above all, in terms of values, two small countries that have fought for their independence and their sovereignty,” Díaz-Canel said, the official Cuban media reported.
