The Venezuelan Electoral Observatory asked the authorities and the UCV Electoral Commission to explain in detail what happened during the elections on Friday and why they were rescheduled for June 9. In his opinion, these elections allow us to see what we have learned in electoral matters in recent years
The Venezuelan Electoral Observatory (OEV) issued a statement this Saturday, May 27, where it established that the community of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) and even the country itself, requires a “detailed” explanation of what happened in the elections in that house of studies on Friday; that due to various delays and irregularities, the process was halted and rescheduled for June 9.
In a short missivethe OEV expressed the demand to the Electoral Commission of the UCV and the university authorities “to include their responsibility, (…) in the causes that prevented the culmination of the exercise of the right to vote.”

He stated that the UCV elections managed to call for a “huge and enthusiastic participation of its various sectors in the voting centers” to elect the authorities of the campus, something that had not been done for more than 10 years.
In his opinion, this electoral process is essential for the strengthening of this institution and that it opens the possibility of taking it to the challenges that are currently posed and that, in addition, is seen by other universities that want to learn in order to repeat the experience.
“These are also elections watched by the whole country to the extent that they can leave important lessons on the table regarding the political crisis of Venezuelan society,” the OEV said in its reflections.
Finally, he urged the population not to remain just rumors, but to wait for concrete answers that the authorities will officially give.

After the postponement of the UCV elections and the rescheduling of the first round for next Friday, June 9, the University Council of the UCV asked the Electoral Commission to present a detailed report of all the events that occurred, which must be ready on Monday, May 29, since it will be discussed in the CU session that will take place at 2:00 in the afternoon .
The University Council is in permanent session and issued a statement in which it ratifies the proposed date during the critical meeting on Friday, May 25, for which it also appointed a technical and comptroller commission to supervise the upcoming elections.
