Police officer who, in a fit of jealousy, shot his wife and neighbor to death is sentenced to 30 years in prison

Police officer Pedro Torihuano Saavedra, who shot his wife and a neighbor to death in the early hours of Friday morning, in the presence of their four children, was sentenced to 30 years without the right to pardonfor the crimes of femicide and murder. He will serve his sentence in the San Roque de Sucre prison, where the man requested his transfer on the grounds that he has relatives there.

The ruling was issued by the judge of the sixth court against violence against women, Vivian Balcázar Melgar, after making an assessment of the grounds presented by the Prosecutor’s Office, through Néstor Torrez Tapia.

The defendant agreed and resorted to an abbreviated procedure. In the end, he indicated that it is worth it for the dramatic event.

According to the foundations of the Prosecutor’s Office, everything happened in the early hours of this Friday, in a building on Tembladerani street in the El Dorado Norte neighborhood. There the policeman and his wife were “blowing” coke in his room. Suddenly, a heated discussion broke out, started by the policeman, who was jealous of his wife with the tenant.

During the discussion, the policeman gets up and goes to the room where his tenant José Luis Choqueta Pinto was sleeping. He knocks on the door, the tenant comes out and the policeman asks him if he had some love affair with his wife. José Luis Choqueta answers him no; but the police officer loads his weapon and shoots him until he ends his life. He then returns and goes to his partner and shoots him in the head.

After the event, the policeman Pedro Torihuano Saavedra tries to make an attempt on his life, but it is prevented by one of his sons, who witnessedto the dramatic fact.

in the audience, the policeman admitted his guilt and the judge applied the sentence. Statements from the children to the Ombudsman for Children reveal that the man always physically abused his partner and the mother of his children. They even say that once he shaved her head, and when she went to a bank to collect money, the financial institution denied it because they did not know her face.

The policeman Pedro Torihuano admitted that he has problems and that he went to the psychologist several times.

The judge ordered intense psychological therapy for minor childrenespecially a five-year-old girl who was orphaned. He also ordered and reflected so that the Police Command, at least once a year, requires the police to go to psychologists to avoid fatalities like the one that occurred with this couple.
