Madrid Spain.- Siblingsan adventure that remains in the memory of the Cuban television audience, was one of those that was screened in the now-defunct “Adventures” space, very often on the island in the 80s and 90s.
Released in 1988 and shot on the plains of the province of Matanzas, under the direction of Eduardo Macías (The kites, Passion and Prejudice), the series tells the story of the brothers Tomás and Lorenzo Iznaga.
Lorenzo, played by Reynaldo “Rini” Cruz, and Tomás, played by Rolando Brito, have two very different characters that lead them to take different paths and decisions.
After Don Esteban (Rogelio Blain) murders his father (Héctor Echemendía), Lorencito joins the Liberation Army; while Tomás joins a band of robbers with the aim of enriching himself.
However, despite their differences, they remain united, something that is reflected from the musical theme of the adventures. “From one heart two seeds were born, two fruits, two lives that must be lived,” read the beginning of the song.
It is worth noting that the song, composed and performed by Noel Nicola, is one of the elements that remained most in the memory; as well as the performances. In addition to those mentioned, other talented actors such as Tahimí Alvariño, Tito Junco, Omar Valdés, Orlando Casín and Enrique Molina joined the cast.
Probably one of the most remembered moments of Siblings be the death of the father, and his cry of “Lorencitooo” “. The cry went so far that many Cubans referred to the novel that way, as if it were its title.
In these years, other adventures such as The Papaloteros, Black and white, no! and the little champions. The popularity of these serials on Cuban television has not been reached again by subsequent ones.
