Three members of the Court of Honor and Discipline of the CD want to continue with the expulsion of Yanibel Ábrego

This Friday, May 26, the Honor and Disciplinary Tribunal of the Cambio Democrático (CD) party met to hold the hearing on the expulsion from the political group of the pre-candidate for the presidency and deputy Yanibel Ábrego.

Lawyer Arturo Vallarino, a member of this Tribunal, explained that the purpose of the hearing is the investigation that requests the expulsion of Deputy Ábrego for her alleged collaboration with candidates from other parties and for promoting alliances with other political groups.

He argued that at this hearing, in which the 5 members of the Court, Ábrego’s lawyers and several witnesses were present, the defense in charge of Carlos Carrillo emphasized that alliances are not being made because this is not the time to do so; since it will be between September and October the propitious moment.

Carrillo also pointed out that the candidacy of former president Ricardo Martinelli has not been promoted either, because now we are still not even a firm candidate and it is not known if he will be.

Vallarino explained that of the five members of the Court of Honor and Discipline, there are two who are opposed to continuing this process; However, there are three people who, being the majority, have insisted on continuing the trial against the deputy.

Once the evaluation of the Tribunal is concluded and a decision is reached, it will be submitted to the Board of Directors; however, Ábrego has the option of resorting to the Electoral Tribunal since it is a process very similar to the one carried out against the 15 deputies of Cambio Democrático, who were acquitted.

“Don’t be surprised when they actually tell you that there has been an expulsion decision,” he said.
