Medical Association of Peru demands the resignation of the Minister of Health, Hernán Condori

The Medical Association of Peru (CMP) demands the resignation of the new head of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Hernán Condori Machadobecause it does not have the minimum conditions to manage the portfolio in the midst of the third wave of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

“We have agreed to request the immediate resignation of the Health Minister because the evidence that has been pointed out during the day has been quite severe. Whereby Let’s hope the president takes note immediately because we cannot accept a person without the minimum conditions to lead a problem as serious as the third wave of the pandemic.”said the dean of the CMP, Raúl Urquizo, in a dialogue on RPP Noticias.

“It really is irresponsible to put people without the competition, it has nothing to do with political color, but what has to do with it is health. (…) It is an incredible thing that in the middle of the third wave we have to be changing authorities and that is really going to affect the health of the people”, he asserted.

Asked about the other reasons why they are asking for Condori’s departure from the health sector, Urquizo indicated that it is because it promotes products without any scientific basis that confuse the population, especially the most vulnerable.

“Second, misleading advertising, showing a specialty which you do not have, that is a flagrant violation of the code of ethics. For which we are asking the dean of the Huancayo Regional Council to immediately open an ethical process. Already last year the Illegal Practice of Medicine Committee had presented itself to the Regional Council of Huancayo, it was at the end of December in the change of regional councils. Obviously, we have only been here for a month and I am sure that tomorrow, when we have a National Council, this case will be discussed and an ethical disciplinary process will be opened”he detailed.

He explained that the Regional Council of Huancayo will determine what faults, what articles of the Code of Ethics were violated by Hernán Condori. “When the resolution comes out, if you are not satisfied, you can appeal, that is your right. And ultimately it would be in the National Council”, pointed out.
