The plenary session of the Congress of the Republic of Peru declared this Thursday persona non grata to the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, for his repeated statements on the internal affairs of Peru, specifically for his expressions against President Dina Boluarte, and the refusal to transfer the presidency of the Pacific Alliance to the Andean country.

The motion, which was approved with 65 votes in favor, 40 against and two abstentions, also urged the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Relations to “carry out the necessary actions to guarantee that the President of Mexico does not enter the national territory.”

Lopez Obrador He won the rejection of Peruvian parliamentarians for “the unacceptable statements (against Dina Boluarte), which constitute, once again, a violation of the principle of non-interference in matters that fall within the internal jurisdiction of another State.”

He refuses to recognize Boluarte

“The problem here is that President Manuel López Obrador does not recognize President Boluarte, to our Congress and does not want to give us the pro tempore presidency of the Pacific Alliance,” said right-wing congresswoman María del Carmen Alva, who presented the motion, on Thursday.

The Mexican dignitary stirred up on May 15 the diplomatic war that he has been against Boluarte since the dismissal of the leftist Pedro Castillo, last December.

“I cannot give her anything because she is not legally and legitimately for us the president of Peru,” López Obrador said at the time during a press conference, reiterating that will not transfer the presidency of the Pacific Alliance to Peru.

“We can deliver it to Chile, to Colombia and let them see what they do, but this lady, with all due respect, a usurper, expelled our ambassador from Peru,” he added.

Mexico defends Castillo claiming that he is the “legitimate” president of Peru. Last December he gave asylum to the wife and two minor children of the former Peruvian president.
