The national government program my house already facilitates the acquisition of a new home in an urban area of any municipality in the country through a subsidy family home and/or interest rate coverage.

And it’s addressed to households with total income less than $4,000,000 (4 SMMLV).
Currently, according to figures from the National Development Plan, 135,187 households have been benefited, when the initial goal was to help 135,000.

PROGRAM EFFECTS
An investigation was carried out regarding Mi casa ya and the results delivered by María del Pilar López Uribe, from the University of the Andes, showed that the program has positive effects in many dimensions.
“The program improves proximity and access to the economic and social fabric of cities: transport, green areas, digital connectivity and shopping areas, advances to build social fabric from formal housingLopez Uribe explained.

“At this time, Mi casa has already positioned itself as the leading program for home purchases, with presence in 309 municipalities in the country between 2017 and February 2021.he added.
Similarly, within the findings of the impact evaluation of the program, it was mentioned that the beneficiaries of Mi casa already have a lower probability of being in quantitative deficit (-45.90%), minor cohabitation (-56.70%) and minor non-mitigable overcrowding (-37.08%).
Likewise, the program is a valuable tool for overcoming poverty, since owners are 73.74% more likely to be out of poverty and vulnerability.
The results of the study concluded that the program produces greater gender equity and more security for women.
The beneficiary women of the program report having lower perceptions and being less victims of situations of physical and verbal harassment in their environment and home.

It also generates more access to the labor market and higher labor income, while the beneficiaries have a greater probability of working and improve their labor income, especially households in the segment between 2 and 4 SMMLV.
The program has improved the income of the beneficiary families.
For her part, Alejandra Botero, director of the National Planning Department, stressed that “the housing sector has evidence on its public policies. About 15 evaluations in 10 years ratify the commitment to guarantee the effectiveness of the decisions of the sector“.
For Hernando José Gómez, president of Asobancaria, “the success of Mi casa is already a learning story that is based on coordination between the public, private and financial sectors”.
In addition, he affirms that the execution of the program has seen the success of resume exercises of previous governments: “The program benefit can exceed 19% of families’ monthly income. There are some really important reductions that increase the effective demand and the capacity of households to get to have their own house”.
Finally, the Vice Minister of Housing, Carlos Ruiz Martínez, highlighted the balance in terms of new housing during 2021 and stated that Colombia is a benchmark on the international stage.
“My house already fulfills the dual purpose of contributing to economic reactivation, while becoming a great bet in terms of equity”, he added.
