50% of the pumping stations in the province of Colón are working

The Ministry of Public Works reports that so far 50% of the pumping stations in the city of Colón remain operational and working.

At the same time, the MOP is advancing with repair, improvement and maintenance works of the rainwater stations, cleaning of ditches, rehabilitation of gate valves and automatic screening system, foreseeing to date floods in this province due to heavy rains. .

The entity called on the community of Colón to avoid dumping garbage in the center of the city of Colón, because the large amount of waste that is lodged in the storm channels has affected the operation of the pumping system.

The Mop highlighted that due to poor garbage disposal, damage was recorded, so 6 pumps remain under repair, so it is urgent to take action to prevent this waste from affecting the rainfall system in this area of the province.

We reiterate the call to the entire population in general, to maintain the best disposal of waste because in recent days we have found high levels of garbage in the three pumping stations located in the center of the city of Colón.
