They approve transfers of items for more than $8 million to Meduca

The request of the Ministry of Education (Meduca) for seven transfers of items for 8 million 84 thousand 936 balboas, for payment of contracts for advances in the construction of school facilities, cancellation of costs for internet services, solid waste collection and work of gardening in schools throughout the country, extension of contracts for administrative officials, among others, was approved by deputies of the Budget Commission of the National Assembly.

One of these requests is for 2 million 230 thousand 877 balboas and is to pay for advances –already verified– of 71.8% and 74.4% of the Anastasia Miter Educational Center project, in the Palmas Bellas district, Chagres district, Colón province. These two phases add up to B/.617,705.

This disbursement includes the payment of 320,494 balboas for an addendum to the contract of the Belisario Villar Pérez School, located in Santiago, Veraguas, which was 100% completed; In addition, an increase in the cost of the work that was carried out at the Nuevo Emperador Integral Training Center, in the district of Arraiján, for 1.9 million balboas.

These transfers of budget items, requested through the National Directorate of Finance and Institutional Development, include B/.1,848,855 for the payment of the construction of two ground-floor pavilions, ramps, sports areas, garage door, parking lots, cafeteria, children’s playground, sheds, rain and fire systems and general adaptations in the Don Bosco Samaria School, for 1 million 281 thousand 745 balboas.

Also included is a disbursement of B/.685,403 for advances in the Las Palmas Professional and Technical Institute and the José A. Ruiz School, structures located in the corregimiento and district of Las Palmas, Veraguas. To pay current validity for 578,365 balboas for the Quebrada de Peces and Camarón Arriba schools, both in the Besikó district, Ngäbe Buglé region.

Another part of these resources will be used to attend collection management for the terrestrial internet service of 4 and 10 megabytes, provided in 116 schools throughout the country, between April and December 2020 for B/.274,296.

Due to activities planned for this 2023, in Panama Bilingual, B/.383 thousand were requested to comply with the local contribution of this program. Finally, for the purchase of materials to assemble 20 modular classrooms in the La Loma, Barranquilla and Quebrada Cayuco schools, in Ngäbe territory, and Peñas Blancas, in Veraguas, 381,782 balboas were requested, the transfer of which also received the go-ahead.
