The director of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) Diego Aboal commented on his personal Twitter account that this Monday the 2023 Census reached 51% of households surveyed by via digital. The census closes tonight at 11:59 p.m.
In this way, Uruguay surpasses Argentina as the Latin American country with the highest level of responses registered in a population census by digital means. The neighboring country reached 50.3% in the survey launched in 2022.

This Friday, once the digital stage is over, the census takers will begin to tour the houses in person. Those who have completed the digital form will only be asked for the code that the page displays once the questionnaire is completed.
In the meantime, people who have not completed the digital form will have their answers taken at that time. This stage is mandatory.
INE recommendations for the last day of the digital census
Last Tuesday night, the INE warned on its networks that “Given the high number of households carrying out the digital census” simultaneouslyit was advised “use email as a means of contact” to receive the code.
Diego Aboal, director of the INE, responded to the agency’s tweet informing that there had been “a very big demand”and reiterated the recommendation to “use email as a means of contact, whenever possible” because “SMS are having a delay”.
