They will deliver school textbooks to more than 700,000 students

The books and school texts of the Ministry of Education (Meduca) that will be delivered to educational centers that total 700,300 students in the coming weeks, are in the printing process, according to the coordinator of the Improving Efficiency and Quality of the Education Sector (MECSE) program. , Lisbeth Ramos.

Ramos clarified that the texts or guides for teachers and schoolchildren, for the year 2022 and 2023, are the same. However, they are in the validation phase and, upon completion of this approval by the curriculists, they will be printed with the necessary adjustments and observations so that students can use them for the next five years, as stipulated in the norm.

The tender was awarded for approximately eight million balboas, to cover the two years 2023 (B/.4.2 million) and 2024 (3.8 million balboas), and that all students can have their books on time.

This year it began with a delivery of books to 200 prioritized schools and the other schools will be completed in the following weeks. Because, as some have already been distributed, the amount to be distributed is less.

The books will be delivered to students, from preschool to ninth grade, to promote the best conditions and the proper development of the teaching-learning process. In other words, the more than 422,000 primary school students, as well as more than 88,300 preschool and 190,000 pre-school students, for the 2023 school year, will receive their school books and textbooks.

The MECSE coordinator said that the purchase of the books was carried out through a biannual international public tender, to guarantee that the printing of the texts is efficient and that, by 2024, the books reach the students in a timely manner at the beginning of the academic period and validated.

The learning process does not stop, since Meduca also started the National Reading Plan that consists of providing schools with Classroom Libraries, which consists of delivering storybooks so that teachers can create a reading corner, with this resource are 18 thousand classrooms served.

The Classroom Libraries are delivered up to sixth grade and seek to encourage reading in children and improve literacy, to better understand and that the learning process is of quality.
