The Public Ministry reported that the body of Nazareth Mercedes Martín (27), an official of the National Forensic Science Service (Senamef) murdered and thrown into the sea, was exhumed.
The exhumation was carried out “in order to gather elements of interest for the investigation,” the Public Ministry wrote in a report.
Officials attached to the General Directorate of Support for Criminal Investigation participated in the exhumation.
The body of Mejías was recovered from the marine waters on Thursday, March 23, in the vicinity of Bolivarian Puertos, La Guaira. She showed signs of sexual violence and of having been strangled, according to preliminary reports.
Mejías had been missing since Sunday, March 19, when she left her residence located in Lídice, Caracas, towards Los Ángeles beach, La Guaira.
For this fact, three people are deprived of liberty, including Cicpc detective Keisler Josue Pérez Martínez and Juan Alexander Ventura, head of Homicide at Cicpc-La Guaira.
Also imprisoned for their alleged involvement in the murder of Mejías are Derwin Jesús Ruiz Mujica (22), Keny Robert Díaz Evier (41) and Miller Andreína Ochoa Sequera (31).
