The journalist Sebastinaa Barráez denounced that a juvenile judge in Caracas issued a resolution against her journalistic practice and against the NGO Tinta Violeta for exposing a case of alleged gender violence denounced by the wife of the Venezuelan ambassador in Equatorial Guinea
The Venezuelan journalist Sebastiana Barráez denounced on social networks that “judge Jorge Luis Devenish Griffit, of the 6th court of first instance for mediation, substantiation and protection of children and adolescents in Caracas, “acting under threat of declaring me in contempt and dictating me to imprisonment, prohibits the right to inform.”
As denounced, it is a response to the posts you have made regarding a complaint involving Leyla Vanessa Vivas Villamizar, wife of the ambassador of Nicolás Maduro in Equatorial GuineaNelson Javier Ortega Bonilla, regarding a situation of gender violence that includes videos and alleged threats.
According to Barráez, Ambassador Ortega Bonilla was the Vice Minister of Commerce and is also the nephew of the Vice Minister of Education, Luis Francisco Bonilla. In his video, he confirmed that Judge Jorge Luis Devenish Griffit seeks to restrict his freedom of expression and his professional practice, using the protection of minors as an excuse. “In none of the publications has the name or initials of the children been mentioned. What is hidden in the judge’s order is to protect the aggressor, whom he forbids me to mention ».
The journalist mentions in her video that “the aforementioned judge orders me, as well as purple ink, feminist NGO, to proceed immediately to eliminate, suspend or have suspended, post, tweet and others, or any audiovisual record where any data or information related to judicial cases directly or indirectly related to children is aired. She said that the ruling intends to make Leyla Vanessa Vivas punished, if the order is not complied with.

In her video, Barráez recalls details of the case and makes new complaints: “this judge forced her to hand over the three children to her husband, all under the age of six, in a process riddled with vices, violation of due process, abuse of power and incompetence (…) This judge took the three children to hand them over to the ambassador in Equatorial Guinea. The children were with her aunt, who was threatened and intimidated into handing them over ».
Last April 29, andn the Infobae portal, the journalist published a note which exposes what Leyla Vanessa Vivas Villamizar said, recorded in a bathroom of the diplomatic residence, and which she sent to her family in Venezuela on April 16. “This Friday, April 28, after a strong altercation and the isolation of the woman with her family in Venezuela, they decided to denounce that the diplomat warned to denounce her for having thrown him down the stairs and stealing official documents. They fear that the ambassador’s threats put the woman and children at risk.”
The journalist stated that the complaint for these judicial actions took her to the National College of Journalists, the NGO Espacio Público and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
