The Municipal Government of Cochabamba and the Franz Tamayo University, Unifranz work in coordination in the execution of three projects that will significantly contribute to the development of that city. Luis Prudencio, representative of the Mayor’s Office of Cochabamba, advanced the information during the act of celebrating the 30 years of the university.

With the proposed projects of searching the rrecovery of urban spaces through the Smart City program, the Orange Economy census and the implementation of Big Data in the field of medicine.

“It is a pleasure that the university is working in coordination with different instances of the Municipal Government to carry out three projects that will contribute greatly to the city of Cochabamba,” said the mayor’s authority.

In a special act, with an auditorium full of representatives from the public and private sectors, professional associations, the consular body, personalities from the cultural and business world, and special guests, the university received recognition from 28 representative institutions of that city.

The challenge is to bridge the skills gap

The World Economic Forum has identified the skills gap as a major challenge for the region and many employers indicate that they are having difficulty finding leaders and workers with the necessary skills to provide solutions to challenges presented by their institutions and communities today.

Oscar Ágreda, Executive President of Unifranz, indicated that in order to successfully overcome this challenge, a deep understanding of the various challenges and realities faced by educational systems is required, not only in the region but also in the country. Education develops the ability to develop and implement creative solutions that benefit all stakeholders.

Innovation in education -according to Ágreda- is a complex process that involves multiple stakeholders, including students, their families, teachers, educational administrators, leading institutions, entrepreneurs, policy makers and civil society.

“With a united coalition we can work to transform education in Bolivia. With the help of educational innovation, we can work to improve the quality of education so that it is increasingly relevant and pertinent (…) and thus be successful in a more changing, technological and above all competitive world”, he stated.

The roadmap is to transform education

The national rector of Unifranz, Verónica Ágreda de Pazos, referred to the defined roadmap that guides the university in the transformation of education and the lives of thousands of young people in Bolivia.

“This transforming lives has made us discover that as a team there are no barriers, that digital transformation is exciting and that thanks to these bonds that we have been creating throughout all this time, we can continue advancing in this fascinating world of knowledge. ”, expressed Ágreda de Pazos.

For their part, the founders of this House of Higher Studies, Abel Ágreda and Celsa Nogales, assured that they will continue to give much more satisfaction to the country, because “a country without education is predestined to be postponed. Education does not transform a country but transforms the men who are going to transform the country and the world”.

Stop investing in cement and invest more in talent

Cochabamba is the cradle of creative talent and, by nature, a university city. A little over 15 years ago, Abel and Celsa Ágreda, after consolidating the university in La Paz and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, bet on the Cochabamba youth who were looking for quality in university education. 4,000 talents are trained on its campus.
