Youth of the FA and the PN will walk together in the March of Silence

in a new march of silencewhich will be commemorated on May 20 in memory of the assassinations of the leaders Héctor Gutiérrez Ruiz and Zelmar Michelini, the Seregnista Youth, a member of the Broad Front, and the youth of Por la Patria, of the National Party, will march together on the journey that it goes from Rivera and Jackson to Plaza Cagancha.

“Both political youth, we are aware of our discrepancies in the current political sphere, but – as Wilson and Seregni knew how to do – we are much more aware of our coincidences when it comes to defending Freedom, the Republic and Democracy“The two organizations said in a joint statement posted on Twitter.

In the statement, the organizations expressed their “generational commitment to promote and share the fight for the clarification of the crimes that occurred during the dictatorship, militating“from the political forces, “the responsibility in the search for the detained-disappeared and generating a collective memory faithful to the historical truth.. “This is, above all things, a human cause and national feeling, which exceeds party barriers“, they maintained.

“There is no action or legal or illegal cause that justifies the systematic actions of the Uruguayan dictatorship that persecuted, kidnapped, tortured, killed and disappeared compatriots, in our territory and in other countries. The State is the institution in charge of protecting the rights of citizens, do not attack them. True to our history, we will continue to claim that only under the rule of law is there a guarantee of freedom“, they stated.

For their part, they also demonstrated against the bill of home prison for people over 70 years of age. “In this free and democratic Uruguay there are no political prisoners, nor are we willing to release anyone under any regime alleging that condition. Therefore, we strongly repudiate any discourse that seeks to deny, ignore, or mitigate the bloody practices of State terrorism and its consequences.“, they sentenced.

The March of Silence will have as its motto this year “Where are they? Never again State Terrorism“, to remember the people who disappeared during the military dictatorship and ask for “Memory, Truth and Justice”, so that the State continues in their search.
