Venezuela and Brazil deepen their relationship and set up working groups

Authorities from the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Brazilian Cooperation Association (ABC) met in Caracas to evaluate new proposals for joint support, which seek to speed up their implementation.

This was reported by one Press release of the Venezuelan diplomatic entity, in which they report that both delegations set up work tables to review the history of the agreements signed between the two countries.

The participating delegations were headed by Rander Peña, vice minister for Latin America, and Ruy Carlos Pereira, director of ABC.

At the event, held on Thursday at the Casa Amarilla, Vice Minister Peña explained that “there are more than 700 agreements that we have with Brazil in the entire area of cooperation, political and economic alliances (…) we have enormous challenges within that evaluation that We will do it and we have to advance in a follow-up committee”.

The diplomat stressed the importance of this meeting, in view of the meeting that will be held soon by the presidents of Venezuela and Brazil, Nicolás Maduro and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, although without mentioning the exact date.

The Brazilian delegation is made up of 22 people, representing 11 federal bodies of the South American giant, who organized their visit to Venezuela after the meeting of foreign ministers Yván Gil and Mauro Vieiralast March, on the sidelines of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, reports the Foreign Ministry.

For his part, the director of ABC commented that “the idea is that we can review what we signed and update it so that, from now on, we can implement what we signed,” he added that it is necessary to “identify new topics that we could incorporate into the bilateral, technical and humanitarian cooperation for the period 2023-2025”.

Venezuela-Brazil relationship

Relations between Venezuela and Brazil, suspended in 2019 in the government of the far-right Jair Bolsonaro, were resumed with the return of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the Presidency of the Amazonian giant in January of this year.

The visit of the ABC representatives marks the first multidisciplinary delegation that Brazil has sent to Venezuela after the inauguration of President Lula.

The two South American nations maintain agreements on cooperation, which add up to 19 in areas such as agriculture, health, fishing and aquaculture, as well as social issues, which will be addressed in working groups for two days.
