The Mayor’s Office of Cochabamba confirmed this Wednesday the realization of the carnival and the Corso de Corsos, but with biosecurity measures.

The decision was announced after the Departmental Emergency Operations Committee (Coed) authorized the mayors to decide on these celebrations.

“This is a responsibility of each and every one of the Cochabambinos, not only of the authorities. We are going to organize so that the carnival is really carried out with all the biosecurity measures”, announced the mayor of Cochabamba, Manfred Reyes Villa.

One of the main activities is the Corso de Corso, which will take place on the first Saturday of March, confirmed the authority.

“The closing of the carnival is the corso de corso, it will be held on the first Saturday of March and we will coordinate with the Government, Police, Armed Forces and institutions,” he specified.

Reyes Villa stressed that this measure was taken to promote economic recovery. Before the celebration, the biosecurity measures will be socialized with the institutions involved in the festivity.

Likewise, the Coed announced the prohibition for the consumption of alcoholic beverages during the carnival and established that the municipalities that authorize the celebration must assume the “epidemiological risks” and present a biosecurity plan. Circulation hours were extended from 05:00 to 24:00.
