The government of Venezuela continues to advance and is committed to guaranteeing the full right to gender equity and equality, to continue building a society free of violence against women and strengthen the comprehensive empowerment of women, the ambassador and permanent representative of Venezuela to the Organization of United Nations (UN), Hector Constant.
“We have come, the Bolivarian Government, to voluntarily present all the achievements and advances of Venezuela, and to discuss the challenges that still exist to guarantee that our country continues to be feminist, continues advancing in its already very advanced normative statements in the promotion of Women’s Human Rights and gender equality, and integral development and empowerment, of that feminine force that has lulled us throughout history,” said the Ambassador.
9th report on the Human Rights of women
This Thursday Venezuela presented before the Committee for the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) the 9th report on the Human Rights of women. The exhibition was given by the Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Diva Guzmán, who highlighted the commitment and permanent work of the national government and the authorities to guarantee the right of women to live in a society free of violence and the equality of conditions in different spheres of life.
For Ambassador Constant, the presentation made by Minister Diva Guzmán “has been magisterial, revealing the progress made in Revolution, especially in the last eight years, since our last report presented to this Committee.”
He considered that “this delegation is of the highest level with public servants who are in charge of designing policies for the benefit of women. In this sense, this delegation has responded in the most satisfactory way possible, the set of questions that have been made by 23 representatives of other nationalities, who are part of the Committee, all ladies. We are responding with the truth about Venezuela and guaranteeing with facts what is happening in Venezuela”.
Venezuela advances in gender equality
Likewise, the Venezuelan diplomat commented that any country in the world will have challenges regarding Human Rights and in the field of women as well and Venezuela does not escape this, “but in this matter it is very advanced and we have guaranteed progress in gender equality , we have made significant progress on women’s rights”.
“Our legislation has worked for judicial recovery and thus gender advances have materialized,” he added.
Likewise, he stressed that Venezuela has been in line with progress worldwide, in education, training, awareness, in what has to do with the fact that there is no impunity against women. We have taken firm steps and we must be more committed every day”.
Constant affirmed that the work should continue to be “guaranteeing that there is no impunity for women. We have to be more committed. We must be calm when there is a zero rate of violence against women, when there is no violence against women”.

Given the progress and achievements presented this Thursday in the Committee, Ambassador Héctor Constant emphasized that Venezuela has a feminist government committed to the values and rights of women.
“We are facing a State that is committed to values, to norms and is fully aware of the importance of guaranteeing gender equality,” he said.
She reiterated the broad presence of women in power and the leadership of women in all spaces of citizen power, “we have an increased presidency of women and we will continue working and advancing to have more comprehensive protection for women.”
