Covid: the positivity rate drops to 10% and this Wednesday no deaths were recorded in Santa Cruz

The contagion curve continues to decline in Santa Cruz. This Wednesday only 500 new infected were registered and the positivity rate dropped to 10%, one of the lowest figures in the last 14 weeks. In addition, that no deaths were recorded this day, then seven weeks.

According to the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) there are 25 municipalities in Santa Cruz that detected patients, of them Santa Cruz de la Sierra concentrates the largest number with 456. Thus, the accumulated number of infections so far this year reached 91,400. While those recovered amounted to 109,674. after 339 patients beat the virus.

The manager of Epidemiology of the Headquarters, Carlos Hurtado, highlighted that this Wednesday there were no deaths from complications of the virus and recalled that the last time this “good news” was had was on December 20 of last year. In this way, the total number of deaths in this 2021 remains at 625.

However, there are 117 infected people who are hospitalized in the intensive care units, of that number 85 are attached to a respirator fighting to save their lives.

Hurtado reported that this day 9,036 people were vaccinated throughout the department of Santa Cruz. He added that, 74% of the target population has already received their first dose60% completed the scheme and 11% already have a booster vaccine.
