President Cortizo and president of the General Congress of the Näbe Buglé Region follow up on the progress of works and projects

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, met this Thursday with the President of the General Congress of the Näbe Buglé Region, Juliana Santiago, and her work team, in order to monitor the progress of the works and projects that are run in the region and know their needs.

In 46 months of government, the largest social investment in history has been achieved in the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca. A great inter-institutional effort, which every week holds comprehensive health fairs and agricultural fairs in different communities, with products accessible to the population.

During the meeting, the Executive gave reports on the progress in works and investments in the Region.

The Vice Minister of Indigenous Affairs of the Ministry of Government, Ismael Jaén, explained the details of the investments in projects and execution that add up to B/.583 million.

He also explained the Comprehensive Development Plan for the Indigenous Peoples of Panama with the support of the World Bank, which has 4 axes focused on governance, health, water and sanitation.

“This has been the administration that has made the highest Social investment than any other, considering that we had to face 36 months of pandemic and that we stopped receiving B/. 4,477 million”, highlighted Cotizo Cohen.

The president Cortizo Cohen pointed out that many other governments are required to look towards the regions, with a development plan for the Region endorsed by all. “I am willing to meet with everyone to agree on this plan, which will greatly benefit the Shire,” he said.

“Someone who has not been to the region does not speak to them, I have visited this place 16 times during the Community Work Tours, which no other president has done and I have a year to go and I plan to continue visiting the region bringing solutions,” he stressed. Cortizo Cohen.

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) explained that the investment in completed projects has been B/. 92,578,063.67 among which stood out design and construction of the bridge over the Tabasará River, Llano Ñopo sector for B/.4,999,040.00. Design and Construction of roads in the Besikó district for B/.20,557,910.00, among others.

While the MOP projects in execution add up to B/. 71,903,902.12 among which stand out study, design, construction and financing of the Coclesito-Kan kintú highway; progress and construction of modular bridges, among others.

Regarding the projects in emergency execution, for a total amount of B/. 21,492,901.48 highlighted the design and construction of the Chumico-Alto Tólica-Guayabito highway for B/. 15,225,649.53. Cutting and improvement of the Cerro Otoe – Carrizal- Planchegue road in the district of Mironó for B/. 3, 727,436.82, among others.

The Institute of Agricultural Marketing (IMA) gave details of the agricultural fairs, the best-selling products, such as rice and the commercial activity of the agro-distributors that add up to B/. 1,042,766.64.

This administration, keeping its word, has inaugurated 6 Agrodistributors in the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca and already has another 3 ready for their inauguration, which offer basic necessities to businesses formally registered in this area of ​​the country.

For its part, the report of the Ministry of Education by the Vice Minister of Infrastructure, Ricardo Sánchez, detailed the plan to eradicate ranch classrooms through various plans.

From 2019 to date, 224 ranch classrooms have been eradicated in 86 Educational Centers of the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca; 56 new schools have been completed and delivered and 23 centers are still running, an investment of B/.83,281,225.51 for the benefit of our students.

On the subject of Health, the 37 comprehensive health tours through the Beehive Plan that have benefited 31,611 people with an investment amount of B/. 1,398,531.55.

For her part, the president of the Näbe Congress, thanked the president for the opportunity given to make known some of the needs of the regional and general congresses. In addition, her work team also thanked all the work that is carried out in the region and took the opportunity to make some requests for investment in some projects.

Also, a presentation was made on the annual budget for operation, administration, operation of the general congress.

President Cortizo Cohen was accompanied at this meeting by the Vice Minister of Indigenous Affairs of the Ministry of Government, Ismael Jaén; the Vice Minister of Infrastructure of Meduca, Ricardo Sánchez, the director of Ima, Carlos Rognoni; among other authorities.
