Cuban regime complains of “harassment” against Buena Fe in Spain

MIAMI, United States. – Several institutions of the Cuban regime complained this week about the alleged “harassment” against the musical band Buena Fe in Spain. Specifically, the Cuban Institute of Music (ICM) denounced in press conference the “harassment” against the group and “the pressure on the owners of the venues that scheduled their concerts (…) in that country.”

According to Indira Farjado, president of the ICM, “such events are part of the attempts to block representatives of Cuban culture and artists residing on the Caribbean island abroad.”

This week, Buena Fe announced the cancellation of its concerts in the cities of Zamora and Salamanca, in Spain. Previously, the band had already canceled their concert in Barcelona.

“Under the pretext of defending democracy, fascist harassment and threats have been unleashed against the owners of the premises [donde se celebrarían los conciertos] and that has been stronger than the songs”, posted the group on Facebook.

Buena Fe did come to perform its scheduled concert in the Galileo Galilei hall, in Madrid. During this presentation, the Cuban doctor Lucio Enríquez Nodarse was beaten by “Castrofascist thugs”, as reported.

“The communist Castro-fascist henchmen violently attacked Dr. Emilio Arteaga Pérez and me at the Mala Fe concert, in the presence of Israel Rojas in the Galileo Galilei hall in Madrid. This is nothing for the blows that the Cuban people have received during the last 63 years, which is why I wear them with great pride! But these coups are worth it because they took place in a democracy! Here the aggressor is going to pay!”, indicated Enríquez Nodarse.

However, the president of the ICM did not allude to the violent attack against the exiled Cuban doctor. Instead, she said that “what happened” was “a direct consequence of the smear campaign, media aggression, and demonization of Cuban artists, orchestrated prior to the concerts.”

According to the report of the Cuban state media CubaSíFajardo denounced “the abuse and violation” against Buena Fe by “provocateurs whose speech is amplified by counterrevolutionary platforms and digital media, financed by US federal agencies dedicated to lying about what happened.”

This Wednesday, the Minister of Culture of Cuba, Alpidio Alonso Grau, also came out in defense of the group. “The harassment of the Buena Fe duo and the pressure on the owners of the venues that scheduled their concerts in Spain are cowardly acts, of a McCarthyite and fascist nature, which portray these ‘new champions of respect for diversity and freedom’ in their entirety.” expression”, wrote on Twitter.

For her part, Lis Cuesta Peraza retweeted a message from her husband, the Cuban dictator Miguel Díaz-Canel, and added: “Then they say that we are the ones who do not respect freedom of expression: shame for stateless people. With good faith, do not interfere.
