Diosnel Gómez González and Hugo Giménez Gómez, sentenced to 20 years and 18 years in prison, respectively, for stabbing a young worker to death, ratified in court what they had already said the day they were caught by the police: that they acted under narcotic effect.
“I don’t know why (he killed), it was not to steal, talk to my lawyer,” said Gómez González when asked about the reason that prompted him to stab the victim.
“Ya omano none, what I’m going to tell you more”, He declared later, when they asked him if he had anything to say to the relatives of the late young man.
He stressed that he had no reason to kill him, and that he has vices linked to drug use. “I smoke crack, I take cocaine, I smoke marijuana,” he replied when asked if he was under the influence of any substance at the time of the crime.
The conviction of both is added to others resolved around criminal acts that have similar characteristics. that is, crimes where the “cheap drug” component, crack, has weight in terms of the factor that leads to third-party tragedies.
The convicts were traveling on a motorcycle, they robbed the young Gabriel Bobadilla, who was going to his workplace, where he worked as computer support. They intimidated him to hand over his cell phone, and when he refused, Gómez González stabbed the victim, who died instantly, on public roads.
In the case of Hugo Gimenez, the Court resolved two years less than the direct murderer, considering that his complicity in the act placed him in almost the same practical legal situation as the main perpetrator. Not only did he help the criminal escape, but in court he tried to justify it by saying that he acted under the influence of drugs, and that he was unaware of the situation.
A Sentencing Court proved the guilt in the murder of the young worker, on December 2, 2020 in an aggravated robbery perpetrated in the city of Luque.
Hugo Giménez Gómez, and Diosnel Gómez González, convicted.
