MIAMI, United States. — Relatives of Cuban baseball player Alfredo Valiente, who lost his life last Sunday in a traffic accident in nicaraguaThey asked for help to repatriate the remains of the deceased pitcher.
The petition appeared yesterday on the Facebook page Nicaraguan National Baseball. The objective is to give Valiente a Christian burial in the land where he was born.
“In search of a better future, the young Cuban Alfredo Alejandro Valiente Rodríguez found death at the age of 24 and far from home. His relatives ask for help to repatriate his body and give him a Christian burial in the land where he was born, ”says the publication.
The text recalls that Valiente was originally from the province of Guantánamo and that he arrived in Nicaragua two years ago to play with the Chinandega Tigers, a team from the Nicaraguan Professional Baseball League (LBPN).
The information specifies that “his family and wife ask the population for help since they need 3,500 dollars to move the body.”
Those who wish to contribute to the repatriation of Valiente’s remains can contact the telephone number in Nicaragua +505 8321 0445 and contact Nuria Barreda.
As the writer and journalist Francys Romero announced last Monday, “Valiente was in the community of La Grecia, in Chinandega, and the accident occurred when he was returning from playing baseball and softball.”
The Nicaraguan newspaper 100% News indicated that at the time of the accident the baseball player was riding his black Yamaha motorcycle, plate CH 51-359.
Witnesses to the accident reported that a man who was driving another motorcycle irresponsibly overtook the Cuban, causing the fatal outcome.
“The blow was so strong that it caused the death of the foreign baseball player while the other involved in the accident was treated by the firefighters and later transferred to the police,” the press reported.
