They open an ex officio complaint against MINSA, NATURGY and Los Bomberos for alleged violation of the right to health

For the alleged violation of the right to health, the Coclé Regional Ombudsman’s Office proceeded to open an ex officio complaint, to the Ministry of Health (MINSA), Naturgy and the Meritorious Fire Department of Panama, after complaints exposed by the residents because the Maternal and Child Center of El Valle de Antón does not have adequate facilities.

During the inspection, the Officials of the National Human Rights Institution (INDH) were able to verify that the doctors and nurses care for patients under the sun and in spaces that are not appropriate for health care.

The Ombudsman was able to learn that since 2017, the personnel and equipment were relocated to an improvised facility, but to date the project has not been completed, since the Fire Department has not authorized its occupation, since the company NATURGY has not carried out the work required by the Health Center.

The Regional Office of Coclé will follow up on this complaint and the necessary approaches so that the authorities address this situation, in order to preserve the right to health of the residents of these communities.
