The 2020 National Assembly (AN) in its ordinary session on Tuesday, May 16, approved, unanimously and in a second discussion, the Law for the Protection of Assets, Rights and Interests of the Republic and its Entities Abroad. In this way, it was sanctioned and will be sent to the National Executive for its promulgation and subsequent publication in the Gazette, as established in article 213 of the Constitution.
In his speech, the president of the Standing Committee on Domestic Policy, deputy God given hair (Psuv), proposed «that there be exemplary sanctions for those who have usurped positions, law firms and professionals, lobbyists, who have intervened in the robbery against our nation. We will continue to act with the Constitution in hand, in accordance with the interests of our people.”
Cabello, who made a brief introduction to the instrument that consists of 13 articles, recalled that the starting point for the promulgation of this law are the sanctions imposed on Venezuela by the United States and other countries of the European Union.

“We start from the unilateral and coercive measures, sanctions, the persecution of Venezuelan officials that has led to the dispossession of some properties and interests of our country” and stressed that “the approval of the Asset Forfeiture Law allows us to intervene directly on those who have stolen resources or have committed treason or drug trafficking.
He also pointed out that the Law for the Protection of Assets, Rights and Interests of the Republic and its Entities Abroad “is complemented by the Domain Forfeiture Law for the application of both if necessary. Law that we consider of vital importance.
He stressed that the approval of this law “is an opportunity to begin with its application, that of both together immediately. Just as we have already seen the results of the application of the Asset Forfeiture Law in practice, we are beginning to see the results of this law on those who have allowed and have been accomplices or have stolen the interests of our country anywhere. of the world.
The president of the AN 2020, Jorge Rodriguez, stressed that the approval of this law “is justice, for the country, for life, for the future, for the rescue of assets, of the money stolen by this gang of thieves, of the money that was also stolen to make damage to the people of Venezuela, to affect the health, food, full life of our people. We are obligated to rescue every penny that has been stolen and we are obligated to harshly punish those who, violating the sacred oath to the Venezuelan homeland, behaving like true stateless persons, have done terrible damage to the people of Venezuela and its institutions.”
