A "renewed vision": Raffo celebrated the support of the National Alliance for his candidacy

The nationalist group Alianza Nacionalfounded by the deceased Jorge Larranagaannounced this Monday officially his adhesion to the candidacy of the economist Laura Raffo.

The announcement was made at the Legislative Palace in an activity in which various leaders participated, including the current leader of Alianza Nacional, Senator Carlos Camy; the mayor of Soriano, Guillermo Besozzi; and Larrañaga’s eldest son, Jorge Larrañaga Vidal.

The economist thanked the group for its support and highlighted the “renewed vision” that it will seek to offer in the white intern.

Larrañaga’s son manifested himself along a similar line.

Raffo resigned last week from the presidency of the Department of the National Party in Montevideo and days later announced that she would not be a candidate Mayor of Montevideo in the 2025 departmental elections.

Raffo’s candidacy is promoted by Herrerismo, one of the historical sectors of the National Party and one of the strongest in Montevideo.

In a National Alliance congress held in Artigas in recent days, the son of Larrañaga Vidal gave some clues about the steps that the sector would take, which the leaders want to be “decisive” in the face of the next elections. And he then added that the National Alliance has always been characterized as the “defiant wing” of the National Party and for not ending any fight until the last minute.

On the other hand, the former number three of the Ministry of the Interior, Luis Calabrialeft the sector in February and will support the candidacy of the Secretary of the Presidency Álvaro Delgado, Raffo’s rival in the internal ones. Other leaders left with Calabria, such as Santiago González, former director of Coexistence at the Ministry of the Interior, and Gustavo Delgado, director at Ursec.

This Sunday 14 the Minister of Social Development Martín Lema ruled out being a candidate and also joins the pre-candidacy of the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado. Both leaders are from the Aire Fresco sector of the National Party.
