MADRID, Spain.- With the repatriation of 97 Cuban migrants (66 men and eight women) in the last few hours, the figure has reached 3,743 so far this year. Of this group, 74 were returned to Cuba by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the rest from the Bahamas.
The Cubans intercepted by the coast guard were repatriated to the island through the port of Orozco, in the province of Artemisa, reported the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). While those returned from the Bahamas returned to the country through the José Martí International Airport, in Havana. In the second group was a minor.
Since October 1, 2022 —beginning of this fiscal year—, the US Coast Guard has intercepted more than 6,200 Cuban migrants.

During the last few days, the United States government has kept warning that illegal emigration will have serious consequences with the approval of new laws (after the abolition of Title 42 on May 11) and the doubling of deportation flights to La Havana.
