The president of the National Customs, Karina Serrudo, reported that as a result of the discovery of two stolen vehicles in Chile and that they were donated by the Government of Bolivia to social sectors, ten customs administrations of the country intervened. The official noted that an agreement with Chile is expected to address the issue of stolen vehicles in the neighboring country and that are offered on national soil.

“We have intervened in ten customs offices to be able to recover all the information and get to the audit. Furthermore, in order to be able verify if there are more people responsible or if there is any lack of control in these deliveries. So, we have already taken all the measures and we are speeding up these procedures, obviously we are going to improve our regulations regarding (stolen cars) And we are going to introduce the issue of verification, even on the day that we are delivering (cars) to the Presidency,” Serrudo explained in an interview with state media.

This determination arises as a result of the discovery of two vehicles stolen in Chile and that were donated by the Government of Bolivia to social sectors. Serrudo blamed the Chilean government for uploading information about stolen vehicles in its territory very slowly. and announced that there is a commitment for the neighboring country to upload up-to-date information. Also for this case The National Directorate for the Prevention of Vehicle Theft (Diprove) resolved to optimize control motorized entry.

For this fact, Administrative, disciplinary and criminal proceedings were initiated against a lieutenant colonel and a non-commissioned officer of the Bolivian Police and three officials of the National Customs: a customs technician, an administrator of Customs Interior of Tarija and the national head of Goods Disposal, reported the Minister of Government, Eduardo Del Castillo.

“Now we are going to have the certification up to date by Chile and we hope that this interoperability be done as quickly as possible so that we do not have these inconveniences which, as I mention again, They are isolated, because Customs has delivered thousands of vehicles since 2014, and in this administration of the president (Luis Arce) we have also delivered several vehicles that are legal,” Serrudo reported.

The official added that the National Customs annulled the nationalization resolutions of the two vehicles that were stolen in Chile and that they will be delivered immediately to their owners in the neighboring country, complying with the corresponding protocols.
