Chikungunya notifications are currently experiencing a sustained decrease in cases. All the country’s departments show a downward trend.

In the last three weeks they are counted 3,845 cases of chikungunyamostly concentrated, 52%, in Central, Asunción and Alto Paraná.

The areas with more cases of chikungunya in the Central department are: San Lorenzo, Luque, Lambaré and Itauguá contribute more than 50%. While, in Asunción, the highest proportion of those affected is verified in the Sajonia and Obrero neighborhoods.

In the metropolitan axis there is evidence of a gradual decrease in those affected by chikungunya. For their part, Caaguazú, Guairá, Amambay, Paraguarí, as well as Presidente Hayes and Boquerón observed increases in notifications.

It shows a marked decrease in hospitalized for arbovirosis in the last three weeks, mainly in the Central department, where there has been a sustained decrease in hospitalizations due to chikungunya and dengue.

The number of hospitalizations for chikungunya it is 463 and 93 for dengue, in the last three weeks. According to partial data, in the last week there were reported 54 hospitalized for chikungunya and 15 for dengue.

So far in the epidemic, a cumulative number of 217 deaths from chikungunya, with a predominance of the male sex and in the extremes of life. 82% of deaths had some risk factor or comorbidity.

The case fatality rate The highest is observed in children under 1 year of age and in those over 80 years of age.

Dengue

They registered 716 cases of dengue, in the last three weeks.

So far in the 2023 outbreak, they add 3,241 accumulated cases at the country level. The largest number of cases is concentrated in Central, Asunción, Itapúa, Boquerón and Amambay

The circulating serotypes in the national territory are the DEN-1 and DEN-2.

There is cocirculation of both serotypes in 12 regions of the country: Central, Boquerón, Asunción, Alto Paraguay, Cordillera, Concepción, San Pedro, Ñeembucú, Canindeyú, Misiones, Guairá, Paraguarí and Presidente Hayes.

In the last three weeks, the incidence rate of dengue is 9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
