Different national authorities began the Assemblies of Venezuelan Workers, in an act held in the spaces of the National Institute of Sports in the city of Caracas.
The activity was led by the sectoral vice president for Territorial Socialism, Mervin Maldonado, and by the vice president for Mobilization and Events of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Nahum Fernández; who agreed that these spaces are for analysis, debate and proposal.
Under this premise, Maldonado asked to understand the context of the country that is experiencing a stage of “resistance”, as more than 900 Unilateral Coercive Measures weigh on the economic and financial life of Venezuela.
He added that the “misnamed sanctions” that block the country have meant that the resources that previously entered Venezuela now no longer enter.
“If before, 56 billion dollars a year entered, just two years ago 700 million entered,” a figure that does not represent even 10% of the national income of 10 years ago, he explained.
However, Maldonado stressed that despite the situation of “blockade” and “attack”, President Nicolás Maduro “has always been at the forefront for the demands of the working class.”
“That is why it is permanently in search of elements to continue improving the quality of life in the midst of this blockade, which must be identified by first and last name: the United States Government.”
The also head of the sports portfolio stressed that President Maduro is the “main protector” of the Venezuelan working class.
“That is why this space is opened, for analysis, debate, the proposal, so that, starting today, in each of the country’s public institutions, a dynamic is generated to continue deepening the demands for our working class. ”, clarified the politician.
The assemblies will travel the country
For his part, Nahum Fernández commented that the labor vice presidency of the country will be taking a tour of different public entities and state companies, to enter into a dynamic that allows communication “without holding back, with the realities of what we are experiencing.”
Also to continue “strengthening ties and understand that only we are this type of class, only we are the ones who are here, who come from the workforce and without a doubt at this conjunctural moment we also have to help each other.”
He recalled that since the arrival of President Nicolás Maduro, plans were hatched to end the workers salary.
In this sense, he made a call “to the conscience of our people, of our people, who have been humble, strong and brave (…) there is an element that we cannot negotiate and that is loyalty to our sovereignty and independence”.
Fernández assured that “we are never going to hand over the Republic, because it belongs to us, to those of us who love our country, and not to those who have generated a plan to hand over our country.”
