The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) celebrated the 13th anniversary of the National Gender Justice Commission of the Judiciary, whose purpose is to contribute to guarantee women the full exercise of their rights, the development of their personality, attitude and capacity; as well as its protection, to consolidate the democratic and social State of law and justice enshrined in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In the activity, carried out in the main auditorium of the TSJ, the first vice president of the high court and president of the Chamber of Social Cassation, magistrate Edgar Gavidia Rodriguezwelcomed and greeted on behalf of the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, magistrate Gladys Gutierrezto the magistrates, magistrates, judges and judges present in the enclosure.
During his speech, the Magistrate urged the judges of the jurisdiction, with jurisdiction over crimes of violence against women, to continue working responsibly and efficiently at the service of the defendant throughout the national territory.
For her part, the vice president of the Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ, magistrate Lourdes Suarez Andersonrecalled that it was created 13 years ago by the Plenary Chamber of the high court, in order to guarantee equality and non-discrimination of women.
In this context, he pointed out that “since 2010 we have made progress in the creation of specialized courts, which have interdisciplinary teams, as well as judges whose task they carry out with commitment and solidarity, guaranteeing access to justice, due process and effective judicial protection”.
“We have advanced at a firm and determined pace, until we are what we are today, a very special jurisdiction with courts to meet all requirements, providing the necessary conditions for Venezuelan women to have access to gender justice,” she added.
