The Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) of La Paz will analyze this week if they can make the recommendation to leave the use of chinstraps in open spaces, as was arranged in different countries of the world.

“Some countries, at the end of this wave, have stopped using masks for many reasons. We are also going to analyze these factors this week to see if it would be a recommendation to leave the mask in open environments. In closed environments, our recommendation is that the chinstrap continue to be used, ”said the director of the Headquarters, Mayber Aparicio, to Unitel.

The authority celebrated the decrease in infections and announced that one can speak of a de-escalation in the department, but, in turn, warned that the incidence of cases continues.

“The analysis that we have carried out as La Paz Headquarters, in epidemiological week 7 we have reduced infections by 58%. These infections have been linked to both the city of La Paz and the city of El Alto and its rural areas, so we have considered that we have entered the phase of de-escalation of Covid-19 infections in our department. However, the attack rate is still 20%,” he maintained.

Countries like France and Spain announced in recent weeks that they will eliminate the mandatory use of masks in open spaces, while in places like New York it was even decided to stop requiring them indoors.
